We received a call from one of our Nipper Sharpening Systems customer today. He has owned his Nipper Sharpener since October 2007 and he had never sharpened a thing in his life until he purchased his Nipper Sharpening System. He just called to let us know that his new adventure had worked out quite well for him. He had worked hard on marketing his nail nipper sharpening business and he was pleased with how things were progressing.
He got the idea to start a part time nail nipper sharpening business because a relative owned a nail salon. The family member was not impressed with mailing off her nippers to be sharpened and there wasn't any shear sharpeners in her area that were willing to sharpen her nail nippers. She encouraged him to learn the skill of Nipper Sharpening and to start his own Nail Nipper sharpening business. He put a great deal of thought into this idea. Soon he was convinced that this could become a profitable part time sharpening business for him.
He came to our shop and took the Personal Hands on Training and purchased a machine. After his training session he stayed and wanted to talk business. He needed to learn how to begin his new business adventure and how to market his nipper sharpening skills. He knew he was a complete novice to the sharpening world but he had the drive and work ethics it would take to start his new adventure.
He really followed the advice he was given that day. He was told to practice his nipper sharpening and to watch the instructional DVD every time before his practice sessions and to work with one or two nail techs who could critique him on how well he was doing at nail nipper sharpening.
He told us that in the beginning he made mistakes. One of his more common mistakes was using a heavy hand when he was performing the sharpening process. Once he caught on to a "light touch" he and his nail techs were pleased.
He said that in the beginning he only sharpened in his comfort zone. He stayed in his comfort zone sharpening for his relatives for two months. Once he felt a high level of confidence with his new found sharpening skills he then began to market his new business.
He just recently started to market his skills out of his comfort zone area and his business is really taking off. He said things were going very well and even though he took it slow in the beginning he felt that was the right thing to do. His hard work is starting to really pay off for him.
We were happy to hear that things down south were going great for him and that all the practice and DVD watching paid off.
When we were children, our teachers and our parents always would say, "practice makes perfect" they were right and the same is true for those learning to sharpen nippers consistently using the Nipper Sharpening System. Hard work, Drive, Determination and Practice are the key words to make your nipper sharpening company a success.
